The Mountain Beckons

The Mountain Beckons is a fantasy take on an old-fashioned ghost story. You play as a brave knight avenging his fallen comrades, but as he chases his quarry, he finds he’s trapped in a loop, and his reality isn’t entirely as it seems.

 

You must fight a variety of foes in combat encounters triggered at each destination in the loop. These combat encounters play out in typical active-turn-based combat. You must choice to attack, use magic, use items or guard each turn, balancing dealing damage to your foe and keeping your health from hitting zero.

 

Your foes will also have elemental weaknesses, indicated at the top of the screen by their name. Attacking a foe with the element they’re weak against will deal additional damage. Physical attacks also have a chance to deal critical damage.

 

Once you gain enough experience you level up, increasing all your stats. You also get to choose an additional boost, allowing you to prioritise stats that better match your preferred playstyle.

 

The Mountain Beckons will automatically save during the map scenes between combat sections. You can safely return to the main menu and quit during these map scenes and continue from where you left off when you want to pick it up again.
